PACRT serves as an awareness-building forum for patient empowerment concerning active participation in the cancer prevention, research and treatment. Involving patients as equal partners in improving clinical diagnosis and practice and in the drug development process is no longer a question of "if“ -- but rather "how“ this should be done.
PACRT matches informed patient advocates (cancer survivors and/or their carers) particularly in the Swiss Lémanic Arc (between Geneva and Lausanne) with requests for speakers, panelists, patient representative appointments to advisory boards and ethics committees, research design input, and clinical feedback in English and/or French to achieve the best possible cancer care, research results, and access to treatments for cancer patients.
PACRT serves as a forum for cancer patient advocates to improve their understanding of cancer and cancer research, to augment their knowledge of research ethics and patient advocacy issues, to enhance their understanding of the medicines research and development (particularly through access to materials from the European Patients' Academy for Therapeutic Innovation EUPATI), and to garner peer support from each other.
